Why is Orlando Florida a great place?

There are many answers to that question; Orlando is one of those special places that you simply must go to at some point in your life, why I hear you say? the answer is simple it is full of unique attractions. There is everything from watching spectacular killer whales perform mind boggling maneuvers with their human trainers to experiencing the awesome site of Dinosaurs feeding in a tropical forest landscape. It is one of those very special places in the World, where there is something to do for everyone, it is simply awesome.

Theme parks

These are the main tourist attraction in Orlando Florida, they are simply superb, and I cannot think of any reason why you shouldn't make them your first port of call. There is something to do for every member of your family, which must be why they are so popular.

People say that Walt Disney World especially the Magic Kingdom is just for children, how wrong they can be, Lynn and I have sat next to people in their 70's who absolutely love the theme park's, its not unique to see an octogenarian getting a cuddle from Mickey Mouse.

Epcot is thought provoking for us adults, and a constant source of education, fun, and entertainment for children. Where else could you see modern crop propagation along side a Pirate battle taking place on the high sea in the Caribbean?

Disney Animal Kingdom is very special, you will be amazed at the mix of attractions from complex animatronics to watching wild animals in a natural environment, and you actually feel as if you are on an African Safari.

Whilst you are on your Orlando-Florida-Holidays, it would be silly not to take a swim with the dolphins at somewhere like Discovery Cove. I did this not too long ago and it is something that I know I will never forget, it was a truly great experience. Many other holiday resorts have water parks for your entertainment, they attract many people every year and Orlando Florida is no exception, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon lagoon are Walt-Disney properties, Aquatica is located just across the road from Sea world.

Universal Studios, Wow is the best adjective to describe this source of entertainment, meet Spider Man and that terrifying Great White Shark portrayed in Jaws, and feel the fear as he rises out of the water.

Orlando Florida Holiday's where else could you ride the Sheikra, The very first dive coaster in North America – and it's a good one! 200 feet up, and then straight back down again at up to 70mph… with a 90 degree drop.

Disney Boardwalk Villas

Disney's Boardwalk Inn is an Epcot area resort that along with its Disney Vacation Club sister resort, Disney's Boardwalk Villas, offers a fun and exciting vacation experience for families with children of all ages especially teenagers.

It has been our family's experience that if the children are not kept busy, boredom sets in quickly.

One would think that spending the day in one of Disney's four theme parks would satisfy their need to go and do, but even after running around in one of the parks for 8-10 hours the children still want to know what they will be doing next.

Although mom and dad may want to relax a bit, the children want to keep busy.

The Boardwalk Inn and Disney's Boardwalk Villas has become our favorite resorts because both offer plenty of activities and entertainment opportunities that will keep everyone busy so that we never have to hear the children say "I'm bored."

Disney Hotels

The resort's main pool is located on the Villas side of the property. It is called The Luna Park Pool and it has a 200 foot water slide called Keister Coaster.

It is a recreation of a 1920s roller coaster.

The slide empties into the pool through the mouth of a clown with the slide as the clown's tongue.

The pool is colorful, exciting and it provides enough fun to keep the children busy for several hours. In addition to the pool,

The Boardwalk Inn and Villas also offer other free activities like tennis, a small playground, and a fitness center.

There are other activities that cost extra that can be enjoyed as well.

There are two arcades on the property.

The biggest is at the ESPN Club located on the Boardwalk. One activity that we enjoy as a family is renting a surrey bike.

The rental stand is located on the Boardwalk just beyond the courtyard area of the resort known as the Village Green.

You can rent a 2, 4 or even a 6 seat surrey bike to take for a ride along the Boardwalk and around the ¾ mile walkway that circles Crescent Lake.

The walkway has plenty of small hills and even a few not so small hills that make it lots of fun and sometimes a bit of a challenge for those who are pedaling the bike.

Most of the time our family ends up laughing so hard after struggling with the smaller hills that we have to get off and push the bike in order to make it up the larger hills.

Disney's Boardwalk Villas

This experience provides us with some good old fashioned family fun and enough memories to share for years to come. Even though we enjoy all of these activities, we especially like to walk around the boardwalk at night.

The sight of bright neon lights, the sounds of midway games, the energy of the live entertainers and the smell of the food coming from the restaurants and the venders all combine to make the Boardwalk come to life with an energy and excitement that only Disney could create.

So the next time you want to take your family on a vacation where the children will be occupied and entertained consider going to Walt Disney World and staying on property at The Boardwalk Inn or Disney's Boardwalk Villas.

Not only do these two resorts offer fun and exciting activities and recreation opportunities they have the added benefit of being conveniently located next to Disney's Hollywood Studios and at the International Gateway entrance into Epcot.

The Downtown Disney area of Walt Disney World is home to the Worlds Largest Disney store, the cuddly toys, various games and other Disney products are an attraction in themselves, there is also the opportunity for children to play with Lego at the imagination centre.

The magnificent Disney Boardwalk Hotel adjacent to The Epcot theme park is an exciting place to visit on an evening, there are many street entertainers, and to keep all the family amused especially the children.

Lake Eola, is a favorite of ours, enjoy a walk around the lake on special walking paths, which are interspersed with play area's, there are fountains to admire, and wildlife to see, not to mention that favorite pass time of feeding the swans.

Ocala National Forest, Water plays an important part in a variety of recreational opportunities on the forest, there are huge springs, streams and lakes for fishing and water skiing.

Crystal-clear water of Juniper Springs, Alexander Springs, Salt Springs and Silver Glen Springs entice many visitors to take a swim.

Harry P. Leu Gardens, offer visitors the opportunity to explore America's largest Camellia collection outside California, the largest formal rose garden in Florida.

1. A house museum dating from the 1880's.

2. And a Vegetable and Herb Garden Butterfly Garden.

The old Town caters for the Saturday night cruise, the largest weekly car cruise in the United States, with over 300 classic cars, hot rods, street rods and antiques from 1974 (and older), it began in 1990!

These are events that Children from 6 to 96 will enjoy!

Kelly Park, this 248-acre Orange County park is built around one of the Apopka area's crystal clear springs. Watch bubbles coming up from a cleft in a rock.

The activity of choice here, and the major reason for the park's obvious popularity, is riding down the stream in an inner tube or on a float, ideal for children and adults.

Disney Town of Celebration, Radio Disney Holiday concert, an Oktoberfest Celebration is an excellent attraction, events for the fall and Christmas season, include falling autumn leaves and "snow" these are released into the Town centre.

Fort Christmas Historical Park, this is a full size replica of Fort Christmas, the houses are reproductions to show pioneer life from the 1870s through the 1930s.

Themes are homesteading, cattle, citrus, hunting, fishing and trapping.
