Disney princesses to continue to live happily ever after in a new video game release
Computer and video gaming often is characterized as a male-dominated pastime. Although there’s plenty of data to indicate that’s an erroneous assessment at times, there probably will be no denying that an upcoming videogame release will be the most popular with young girls.
The “Disney Princess: Enchanting Storybooks” videogame being released this fall brings a bevy of beautiful princesses to life for open-ended creative adventure on the uDraw GameTablet for Wii, as well as Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi.
The game, scheduled to be released Nov. 1, gives game users an array of stylus-based activities. From number-painting scenes to coloring-book pages that narrate stories for game users, the title offers interactive features involving Ariel from “The Little Mermaid,” Belle from “Beauty and the Beast,” Cinderella (of course), and Jasmine from “Aladdin.”
Other princesses in the interactive game are Tiana from “The Princess and the Frog,” and – featured for the first time in a video game – Rapunzel from “Tangled.”
Game users are guided through the storybook and can express themselves with numerous games, activities and musical explorations as they enjoy the fantasy world of the Disney princesses.
In a press release announcing the product, Martin Good, the executive vice president of software creator PlayTHQ, said “The Disney Princess characters are favorites of little girls everywhere, and our goal has been to make a game for them that takes advantage of the special capabilities of the uDraw GameTablet.”
If little girls are looking for a happy-ever-after digital diversion, clearly this game is for them. And, truth be told, some male siblings probably might enjoy some of the interactive play in the game, as well. After all, creative play is not exclusively gender-based.
“Disney Princess: Enchanting Storybooks” will sell for about $29.99 for the uDraw version and about $19.99 for the Nintendo DS/DSi version.

The Disney College Blog
The Disney College Blog
Welcome to those of you joining me from Magical Memory Planners. I am the second stop on our Magical Blogorail.
For those of you who are unaware, the Magical Blogorail is a "loop" of blogs that focus on one topic for one Friday each month.
There are currently three blogorail loops and a fourth in the making, and I am part of Blogorail Green.
This week's topic is to introduce myself, my blog, and what inspired me to start a blog.
So if you don't care much about the blog and just want your regularly scheduled posts, those will begin again on Monday!
For those of you who are curious about me, as you may know, my name is Amanda, and I'm a (gasp!) college student.
I had been wanting to start a blog for a while in the spring of 2010, but I wasn't quite sure what to start a blog about.
Also, I had a Twitter, but I didn't use it for much at all. Then, Betamouse started.
I had been listening to Disney podcasts for a little while, so I was interested in Betamouse.
I'm not sure it was anything the hosts of Betamouse said in particular, since this epiphany happened before their episode about blogging, but while listening to them, I realized that if I wanted a blog, I needed a niche. And college students who love Disney is a niche.
Thus the Disney College Blog was born. I also started following many of the people that I now call friends on Twitter, which helped me get the word out about the new blog. And it definitely didn't hurt that I reviewed Betamouse in my second post.
Although the blog started as a place to talk about how Disney could relate to college, the blog is now for anyone of any age or education level.
In fact, I started a similar project in podcast form with a few friends... check out Generation Mouse if you're interested.
If this is your first time visiting my site, I try to post three times a week when life allows. Look around, and if you like what you're reading then stay a while! And for those of you who are my loyal readers, as I said earlier, your regularly scheduled posts will begin again on Monday!

Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom.
Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom.
The original Tiki Room is back at Walt Disney World! This classic Walt Disney Audio Animatronic show is a must see Walt Disney World attraction in Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom.
The Sunshine Pavilion, featuring a show variously known as “Tropical Serenade” and “The Enchanted Tiki Birds,” debuted on Oct. 1, 1971, in Magic Kingdom. In 1998, following substantial refurbishment, it re-launched as The Enchanted Tiki Room-Under New Management, with two famous Disney birds – Iago from Aladdin and Zazu from The Lion King – taking control and trying to spruce up the show.
Now the “new management” has been let go and the future of the Adventureland landmark is in the wings and wit of José, Fritz, Michael and Pierre – four crooning parrot hosts who have been entertaining guests at California’s Disneyland since 1963 in The Enchanted Tiki Room. Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, as the Magic Kingdom attraction now will be called, is being prepared for the premiere (tentatively on Aug. 15, 2011) of a show that will pay tribute to the Disneyland original - notable in theme park history for ushering in sophisticated Audio-Animatronics technology.
Prior to 1963, Walt Disney’s creative team had produced movable figures, but none had the sophistication of the bird-brained cast of the Tiki Room. José, Fritz, Michael and Pierre produce movements when solenoid coils hidden inside receive signals recorded onto magnetic tape and are regarded as the first “true” Audio-Animatronics figures.
They introduce a musical presentation by more than 200 birds, flowers and tikis. Even the audience gets into the act, joining in during the musical ditty “Let’s All Sing Like the Birdies Sing.”
While the show is steeped in tradition and maintains the original intent created by Walt Disney and his original team of Imagineers, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room will feature the latest in technology – a state of the art show-control system, remastered audio, and a new versatile and energy efficient lighting system.

It relaunched as "The Enchanted Tiki Room - Under New Management" in the Spring of 1998, which later closed on January 12, 2011.

Disney Boardwalk Hotel Orlando Florida.
Disney Boardwalk Hotel Orlando Florida.
I had known for a while that Disney had a Boardwalk area at the Boardwalk Resort, but I had never been there until our August trip.
I have been to the real Atlantic City Boardwalk many times, and though I knew that's what Disney's was based off of, I also knew that Disney's Boardwalk was a pre-casino rendition of Atlantic City's, which I had never seen.
I was sort of clueless about Disney's Boardwalk, so I did what any podcast loving Disney fan would do when they had a question: I emailed WDW Today.
I asked the guys of WDW Today how long they thought two college students, too young to drink, would probably spend on the Boardwalk and what they would do.
The guys said we could spend a few hours at most, and we would mostly just walk around, enjoy the sights, and that's about it.
And that was pretty accurate. I'm not sure what I was expecting, maybe something more like Downtown Disney, but Disney's Boardwalk was just what it said it was - a boardwalk.
There were some street entertainers that were quite interesting, but none took very much of our time. We strolled in and out of some of the stores and such, but that didn't take much time either.
And we took lots of pictures and enjoyed the atmosphere.
It really was beautiful and very romantic as it started to get dark, but it certainly wasn't a huge attraction in itself.
Overall, I think Disney's Boardwalk is a nice area, especially if you're staying at one of the Epcot resorts. It's nice to visit, to take pictures, and to enjoy the atmosphere.
It's not somewhere you can spend copious amounts of time, however, if you're looking for something very stimulating.
It's sort of relaxing, and I can certainly see staying for quite a while if you were having dinner or spending time at Jelly Rolls or the Atlantic Dance Hall, but the guys of WDW Today were right.
We spent about an hour on the Boardwalk, and then we moved on to Hollywood Studios. It was a nice experience, but it wasn't super exciting.
What do you think of Disney's Boardwalk?
Do you make it a point to visit every trip or just if you have a reason to be in the Epcot resort area?
Do you spend a lot of time there, or do you just spend an hour or two taking in the sights like James and I did?
Or have you never been to the Boardwalk area at all? Let me know what you think in a comment, on Twitter (@discollegeblog), or on Facebook!

Disney-excitement, John Allsopp answers the question about Disney World.
Portraits in Oil, HAND PAINTED,By John Allsopp
Portraits in Oil, HAND PAINTED,By John Allsopp
Disney-excitement.
Is Disney exciting, fun, imaginative and entertaining…I’m often asked! Well yes it’s all that and more. Disney is unique really it’s all the things above and a lot more.
Read a little more I’ll try to capture the magic of Walt Disney World for you. And make you holiday go well.
Disney world in Orlando is like a music score you ride up and down the melody. You are up on a carousel one minute and down in a cave exploring the pirates of the Caribbean the next. You need to use your imagination when you go to Disney. Look at the attractions and imagine how do they come up with this and then make it them all work so well? It’s magic.
Fun is in your control. I hear people who return from Disney and say it was alright but not as much fun as I thought. You must make it fun. How do you do that? Join in the atmosphere. Buy a floppy Pluto hat…or lick a boiled lolly pop. Yes it helps with the fun. It makes you laugh too!
Explore not only Disney but your childhood. If you are an adult reading this. Go back to your childhood and relight those Disney flames. I used to think Walt Disney and his Characters were real when I was a boy. When I went to Disney for the first time discovered I was right! They are real you can shake their hands..hehe.
There’s no business like Disney business, the best show around. To entertain you. The theme parks are full to the brim with good old fashioned all be it modern fun. Its modern old really. Modern electronics and animatronics will take your breath away highlighting all those famous old Disney characters we know so well, like Snow White. In a modern way with up to date techniques.
Your day will be full of entertainment in Disney. After you look around the super real Hall of Presidents Peter Pan ride and the river cruise in Magic Kingdom. To name but a few you will ready for a sit down.
Sitting down in Disney is highly recommended…you need to sit and relax watch the world go by. And you will certainly see the world in Disney. People from every corner of the globe head for Disney World Orlando…that’s why Mickey Mouse lives there because it’s so real and full of fun.
You can sit down and enjoy the entertainment too. I was recently asked by a couple in the twilight years if Disney would be too strenuous for their elderly bones? Well there are many opportunities to sit and relax. The hall of presidents is a theatre where one sits and is entertained by the founding fathers of the USA...all automatons which guide you gently through the history.
Many of the rides in Disney ‘s magic kingdom allow you to sit without too much movement from side to side…thunder mountain and splash mountain are not for you if your years are many!! Pirates of the Caribbean would be ok..Lots of canon fire and visual affects helped by audio at not to great a volume…this would be alright but it all depends on you…you can always ask a friendly cast member who are very knowledgeable about the rides.
Parades happen in Disney. Strike up the band. This is OK usually takes place around mid day. Find yourself a good vantage point where you can be entertained by very musical and quite fit young men and women. Who serenade you with tuneful happy tunes as the march to the beat of their own drummers? Raising the stars and stripes in the entrance area of Magic Kingdom is another sit down opportunity. If you get there soon.
Head for Cinderella castle where live shows take place with all the Disney characters as part of the cast. You can find seats around this area. The live music is excellent...you wonder where the cast members get their energy from...especially in the heat of the Floridian mid day…we have experienced 100 plus degrees in Disney! This event would be suitable for everyone really looking to rest those tired feet.
Haunted mansion is another easy slow but very interesting attraction. It all starts in a lift. As you slowly drop down into the basement of this scary mansion you se the paintings on the wall stretching in from of your eyes. Once you have arrived at the ground floor…buggies gently take you on a journey into imagination where you will see the most delightful models and special affects that will have you laughing…yes laughing at the ghosts. It’s all very funny really. And not too scary. So ok if you have the grand children with you.

Hello. I have been travelling to Walt Disney in Orlando for many years, I first went there when I was 10 and have never forgotton how exciting it is.
My favourite is Mickey Mouse, I have seen him lots of times in Magic Kingdom, I have his video's his books and many tee shirts with him on the front. We love disney and my dad is a big fan too, when he was little my grandparents took him to disney.
We like the pardes and i have been part of it i was just standing by one of the seats near cinderellas castle when a cast member asked me if i wanted to be part of the display. This is a great memory for me.
I like the epcot fire works and me and my dad always plan to see them each time we go to disney, i like the laser shows and the big bang fire dispalys which light up all the sky. I have a camera but someone said the pictures are not good because of he speed.
I like cinderella and all of the disney charcaters some of them i have put in the pictures boxes below for you to see and share.
