Which business should I start today?

A question anyone who has wondered about self employment should really ask themselves, how you find out, think your way through the problem, there is only you who can answer this fundamental thought process, no one else, forget about get rich quick…it does not exist.

What business is right for you, I answered this question about two years ago and decided on an interesting self study process to get to my answers. Essentially business is selling something or advising the general public about what you know about. Shops sell products; Solicitors sell their time and knowledge of an area they are versed in...I.e. the law.

Do you have a skill, everybody has a skill of some description, even a road sweeper has a skill, he knows how and where to sweep at a given time of the day, where rubbish is likely to build up more on his patch than other places, that knowledge is skill. If his employers the local council wanted to improve their street cleaning activities they would use their cleaners to answers their basic questions, to help improve their service.

I paint portraits and pictures from photographs, that's a skill that people will buy, the general principal is that once people buy your goods or services and they like what they have bought they will tell others, this is the way to think about your business venture.

Do things that you like doing, its no use to you or your prospective customer to try and sell something that you have no knowledge or interest in. Mobile phones may be a great product and used throughout the world by almost everyone, but do you know something or a lot about mobile phones? I'll let you into a secret, I'm a communication Engineer with a whole load of knowledge about the mobile system, but and it's a big but, my passion is Travel and Art.


Travel, mainly to Orlando and the wonderful exciting highly entertaining Disney World, I have spent most of my holidays in Orlando, that's why I decided on Disney and Orlando, and not selling mobile phones. Passion is something you love to do; I love to paint and travel.

Seek out your passion, the way I did, don't rush take your time and work through your thought process like I have walked you through mine, find out what interests you, what skills do you have that you can turn into knowledge, that knowledge is sort after by people everyday, they are eager for how to do something or how to get the best out of something, in a travel sense, people want to learn about a place from someone who has been there.
